Well, that’s it for another year. Five weeks of game design that has resulted in (so far, see below) 683 new table-top RPGs being birthed into the world. It’s been great to see the community grow this summer, with more and more people seemingly getting involved in the discussions on the Discord. This year also saw increased discussions on Bluesky, and it felt like a lot more entries were getting shared on the OnePageRPGs subreddit this year!
I did a ‘that’s a wrap’ style post over on the Discord server when the jam ended, but I wanted to write something a bit longer-form to go over a few things of note, and also share news on some upcoming jams!
Post-Jam Survey
Last year I posted a survey a while after the jam ended to try and get some feedback on how to improve the jam going forward, and to help shape the Generative AI policy for this year’s jam. This time I’m launching the survey in a more timely fashion, looking for feedback on the jam and the policy. I would really appreciate it if you could spend a couple of minutes filling it out, even if you didn’t submit a game this year.
Also if you’re a content creator who has been following the jam, I’d like to know if you covered it this year, and if you used the Content Creator Kit.
Late Entries
The last half-hour or so of the jam saw Itch.io plagued with downtime issues. We can’t say for sure if the jam had anything to do with it, although I will be telling people we caused it! Given that over a third of submissions came in during the last 48 hours of the jam, we definitely hammered their servers!
Because of this downtime, many people weren’t able to submit their games. By the time the site came back up, the jam was over. The good news is that if you finished your game before the deadline but were unable to submit it, I am able to create a bespoke submission link for the game. Head on over to the Later Entries post in the community forums and share the URL of your game, and I’ll reply with your submission link. This post has been up for a while but I’ll keep it up for a couple more days for people who are only just finding out about it!
Reviewing Submissions
As the jam isn’t ranked, there is no official ratings period, or requirement that people look over submissions. In fact, with almost 700 games submitted, looking through them is a daunting task. If you have time, please consider browsing through the games and picking a few to read and review.
Itch has a built in ‘Submission Randomiser’ for the jam, which keeps track of games you’ve viewed, and will only show you games you haven’t reviewed yet. It’s actually a lot of fun to shuffle up and read a random game.
Forthcoming Jams
If you enjoyed this year’s jam, you won’t have to wait a whole year to flex those creative muscles. Not only are there dozens of other TTRPG game jams out there, I’ll be hosting two more between now and next summer.
Bookmark Jam
This game jam will go even smaller than one-page, down to just a few square inches. Entrants will be asked to design something TTRPG-related and gameable that fits on a single bookmark. This could be a rules system or subsystem, an adventure, a lyric game, or something else. The jam will run for two weeks at the beginning of December this year, with more details and sign-up coming nearer the time.
Weekend One-Page One-Shot
This event will be closer to the more typical videogame-style jam: you’ll have one weekend to design a TTRPG that fits on one side of A4/Letter and that adheres to a set theme, announced when the jam begins. The jam will happen early 2026, with more details - including specific start and end times - coming in the new year.
If you want to keep up-to-date on these jam, either subscribe to this newsletter, or join the Discord server.
The ENNIE Awards
This year the jam won the Gold ENNIE Award for Best Online Content. It was amazing to be nominated in the first place, and for enough people to turn out and vote for the jam was incredible. If you voted, thank you so much for your support. All of the nominees put out great stuff and you should check them out. Congratulations to Prismatic Wasteland, who took home the Silver for this category, and also a second.
Until Next Time
Thanks once again to everyone who joins in and makes the jam the success that it has become. Please do take the time to fill out the survey and maybe review some games. And see you all in December for the TTRPG Bookmark Jam.
Thanks much for hosting these! Was great to participate.
I always love this time of year. Thank you once again for hosting!
